“All God’s promises are reliable and resolute and are certain and sure in Jesus. By faith I say Amen.” - 2 Corinthians 1:20 (Personalised)
Growing up in church, I was fascinated to hear the congregation say Amen. It was seen as a most solemn response not to be taken lightly. Over the years, much has changed.
Jesus, in Matthew 5:34–37, tells us to let our yes, be yes and our no, no.
Numbers 23:19 reminds us that, “God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent; Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”
I am comforted that God does not take His words lightly. One phrase you would hear is “a promise is a comfort to a fool” meaning that you would be unwise to believe someone when they say they will do something.
But God!
God keeps His promises!
I can take comfort in His promises.
2 Corinthians 1:20 tells us that, all (A-L-L) the promises of God find their yes in Jesus Christ. We can see it from the beginning with Genesis 3:15 all the way down to Revelation 22:20.
God promises to love us.
“Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.” - Jeremiah 31:3
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” - John 3:16
He promises to provide and care for us.
“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds?” - Luke 12:22–24
He promises to fight for us:
“The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” - Exodus 14:14
And if that isn’t enough, He promises to meet all our needs.
“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 4:19
“God’s promises are Yes and Amen. When man says you can’t, God says you can! He can do anything but fail. His Word is His promise. Believe Him.” - Joaynn
“I build on Christ, the Rock of Ages; on His sure mercies described in His Word, and on His promises, all which I know are yes and amen.” - John Wesley
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being the promise keeper. Your yes is yes, and in alignment I say, Amen. In Jesus name, Amen.
“Amen is not the end of prayer, it just gets us ready to go to the next level.” - Gary Busey
For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory. - 2 Corinthians 1:20, NLT
"He who is the faithful witness to all these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon!" Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!" Revelation 22:20NLT
Be blessed to be a blessing!
