The Right Formula

The Right Formula - Illustration

“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.” Matthew 6:33 NLT

According to Ai Overview, the phrase “the right formula” means ‘the perfect combination of actions, methods, or ingredients needed to achieve a successful outcome.”

Following on from the sermon on the mount in Matthew 5, Jesus shares how we are to live for God and interact with each other. In Matthew 6 verses 25 to 34, He reminds us not to worry. As believers, He says, don’t worry! Don’t worry about your life, about your meals or clothes, don’t even worry about tomorrow.

So why is Matthew 6:25 to 34 the right formula? Let’s break it down using the definition from Ai Overview.

The action: Do not worry about your life, food, drink, clothes, body or tomorrow.

The method: Look at the birds, look at the flowers, look and see how God provides and sustains His creation.

Ingredient needed: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

There’s never been a point where worry has gotten me closer to what I needed. Experiential faith, though hard at times, is a stern reminder of the previous times God has sustained me and kept me.

Psalm 23:1 CEB is a simple and yet profound declaration. “The Lord is my Shepherd, I lack nothing.”

May this be a constant reminder for us as we face our todays and tomorrows.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your goodness and grace. Thank You for giving us the right formula - to seek after You first and You will add whatever we need. Help me not to be anxious and not to worry. Help me to trust in Your Divine plan even if I may not understand it at the moment. May Your Name be forever glorified and praised. In Jesus Name, Amen.

“When we put God first, all other things fall into their proper place or drop out of our lives. Our love of the Lord will govern the claims for our affection, the demands of our time, the interests we pursue, and the order of our priorities.” - Ezra Taft Benson

“You’ll never come second by putting God first.” - Brian Houston

“Spending time with God isn’t a magic formula for a perfect life; it’s a rock-solid foundation that will hold you up when everything around you is shifting sand.” Dr. Shermaine

“Life has a simple formula: Look back and thank God for how far He has brought you. Look ahead and trust Him with everything that is yet to come.”-Unknown

“My mind is the starting point for my behaviour. Therefore, I am making a deliberate decision to think of things that are honorable and honest, to imagine things that are pure and lovely. If it is right, excellent and of good repute, I will think of those things.” Philippians 4:8 (Personalized)

Be blessed to be a blessing.
