Darkness of sadness. Darkness of fear. God dwells in the darkness; deliverance is near. O be silent my soul, I am not alone. God dwells in the darkness; deliverance is near.
1 Kings 8:12 (Personalized)
One of my favorite bible texts is Zephaniah 3:17, ‘The Lord Your God is with You; He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in You; He will quiet You with His love.’
As a visualist, I see God as the Winner of the greatest battle in human history, taking off his armor and greeting those surrounding Him with hugs and laughter. Having fought a fierce and grueling battle, fighting for the lives of His family, He greets us with tears flowing down His cheeks. There is cause for great celebration!
But for now, we are here in darkness. We are prone to experience fear, sadness, and loneliness. Sometimes our misperceived notion of God keeps us in darkness too. Instead of turning to Him when we face life’s challenges, we seek to run away which can inhibit our growth and self-awareness.
‘Darkness does not have to mean evil. It can refer to anything that has not yet been brought to light. Beyond boundaries, beyond our comfort zone, where a lot of us do not want to go.’ Justine Musk
Psalm 139:23, 24 ERV says, ‘God, examine me and know my mind. Test me and know all my worries. Make sure that I am not going the wrong way. Lead me on the path that has always been right.’
We don’t have to hide or run from God. As a matter of fact, there’s nowhere we can go that He won’t seek after us. He showed us that when he sought after Adam and Eve in the garden; and in the parable of the Lost Sheep; and as He seeks after each one of us. God wants to move you from where you are to where He is. He’s fought many battles known and unknown to bring you home.
Lord, thank You for being victorious. Help me to trust in You and to know I can stand still, because the battle is not mine, it’s Yours. Help me to make you my choice and to know that even when darkness comes, I am not alone. Take me to where You are so I can experience Your love, mercy, joy, and grace. In Jesus name, Amen.
Safety and salvation are only of the Lord! Psalms 124:1
Be blessed to be a blessing!
