God, the Source of Peace who is guarding and governing my mind in every situation and circumstance, is continually granting me perfect peace for His glory and for a witness and blessing to others.
2 Thessalonians 3:16 (Personalized)
The Parable of the Talents as found in Matthew 25:14-30 has always fascinated me. The Parable speaks to a Master who gives different number of talents to his servants, goes away and then returns. The first two servants doubled what they were given and the third hid his in the ground.
Whilst this parable may be about our responsibility as stewards to care for the Lord’s kingdom; it made me think about my life as a talent.
In the book ‘Seven Habits of Highly Effective People’, Stephen Covey talks about beginning with the end in mind. He asks us to imagine a funeral of a loved one and to picture ourselves there. As we look in the casket, we recognize the person laying there is us. The persons who would speak on our behalf – what would they say about us? what would they remember?
Essentially, it’s to give pause as to who we are and who we would like to be and how to bridge the gap or move in alignment.
So, as I think about the talent of my life in line with the parable of the talents, am I living up to my potential? Am I doubling on what God has given to me, or have I hidden my talent ‘in the ground’ out of fear?
There have been times where I’ve let my inner critic drown out my inner voice. There have also been times where I’ve let outside voices drown out my own. I remember looking into the mirror, looking myself dead into my eyes and asking, “When did you start to believe the lie?”
I prayed and asked God to help me to remove the dross and to live in my purpose. I have my ups and downs but for the most part I can say I am walking in it by His grace.
I am comforted that no matter where we are, if we have life, we can be a catalyst for change and to change. I want to encourage you in this devotion, those who feel like they don’t have their life quite together yet – it’s not too late to begin again; to begin with the end in mind!
“Let go of the disappointments and setbacks in life. Hang on to the promise of God for you in the future.”
“God has perfect timing for everything. Learning to wait for it brings him honor and you the ultimate blessing.”
“God sees your pain. He will provide you new opportunities. Bigger and better than before.”
“God is able to take the mess of our past and turn it into a message. He takes the trials and tests and turns them into a testimony.”
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for governing and guarding my heart with peace. Help me to trust in You and in Your plan for my life and move in alignment with Your will. You know the future; You know the way; You know me better than I know myself. Help me to trust in You and to have faith and courage to move forward anyway. In Jesus name, Amen.
I am God’s new creation in Christ Jesus. He is carrying out the good works in me, which He prepared me to do since I was born. Ephesians 2:10 (Personalized)
“You may feel lost and alone, but God knows exactly where you are, and he has a good plan for your life.”
Be blessed to be a blessing!
