The Silent Battle

Where You Are - Illustration

I am going to God clinging to faith, with conviction, so that I can receive pardon and favour. I am trusting Him for help and healing in seasons of affliction and temptation. Hebrews 4:16 (Personalized)

Many go through life feeling misaligned and misunderstood because of unmet expectations, childhood trauma or bad decisions. It could also be due to a lack of healthy coping mechanisms or being unable to always handle what life throws at you. Many of us carry grief in our hearts, not living up to the timeline to be over who we’ve lost. Wherever we fall on the spectrum, life and healing can be messy.

The world is obsessed with appearances to the point of toxic positivity--“a dysfunctional way of managing emotions that involves avoiding, suppressing, or rejecting negative emotions, especially anger or sadness.” – AI Overview. Toxic positivity presents itself in different ways such as comparing those who appear positive or who don’t share their emotions as being stronger to someone else who might or expecting persons to be unrealistically optimistic without considering their situation. Additionally, social media has created false illusions of perfect happiness which often mask what truly occurs behind the scenes.  This need to veil reality, has led to vulnerability being frequently seen as a weakness and avoided where possible, unless it can warrant attention. The list goes on and on.

We may try to intellectualize or ignore our feelings for fear of ridicule or appearing ‘weak’, but I am grateful to know that God is “acquainted with our sorrows.” (Isaiah 53:3) He tells us He tracks our sorrows, collects our tears in a bottle and records each one in His book. (Psalm 56:8) We can come to God for healing and relief. He is there for us and with us for those silent battles we face. This may be a new year, but for some, the pain of yesteryear is still very real.

I take this time out to send words of encouragement to you.

You never know the silent battles people are fighting, even the people you think you’re closest to. You’ll never walk in my shoes, and I’ll never walk in yours.” - Madison Beer

“Friendship...is born at the moment when one man says to another “What! You too? I thought no one but myself...” - C.S. Lewis

Friendship is one of the sweetest joys of life. Many might have failed beneath the bitterness of their trial had they not found a friend. – Charles H. Spurgeon

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being close to the brokenhearted. Comfort those who mourn and those who are in anguish. Calm those with anxious spirits. Thank You for peace and sweet communion and providing for all my needs. In Jesus name, Amen.

“Now that we know what we have—Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God—let’s not let it slip through our fingers. We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin. So let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help.” – Hebrews 4:15 MSG

“Some of the greatest battles will be fought within the silent chambers of your own soul.”

- Ezra Taft Benson

“Courage, dear heart.” - C.S. Lewis

Be blessed to be a blessing.
