I am constantly and continually praising God. I am praising Him all day. I ascribe all my success to Him, and I am relying on Him for tomorrow.” Psalm 44:8 (Personalized)
The Oxford Dictionary defines the word solution as ‘a means of solving a problem or dealing with a difficult situation.’ It feels like we are met with opposition each day. Some challenges we overcome quickly whilst others completely wipe us off our feet.
When God made creation, He made it for us. When He created the Sabbath, He made it with us in mind. A day to recharge and renew and to find rest and solace in Him. A simple solution you might say for the busyness that is life. Hustling and bustling and pushing for the next thing can leave one feeling drained, so pausing to give God praise and thanking Him for what we have is paramount.
I try to be intentional about worshipping over worrying. To be honest, I don’t even like being a fretful person. I do have my moments of weakness but all in all this is what I aspire to.
There’s a reason Jesus tells us not to worry. Worry robs us of the joys of today and hope for tomorrow. Jesus offers us a simple solution – lay it all on Him!
Here are some bible texts I claim when I am feeling overwhelmed:
“I am handing my whole load, all of it, to God: everything that makes me anxious; my plans and my pains; my fears and my tears. He cares about my concerns. His love is unlimited. His grace is sufficient.” – 1 Peter 5:7 Personalized
“Lilies do nothing but trust. They don’t toil; they don’t spin; yet night and day they grow. God clothes them. How much more should I trust?” Matthew 6:28, 30 Personalized
“No matter what difficulties come my way, His refreshing hope will keep me calm. I will take courage, I will be strong, I will wait for the Lord, He will rescue me.” Psalm 27:13 Personalized
"Why am I upset? Even if the enemies are lurking, there is no room for despair. All things are possible with God. He is as good as He is powerful. I will always praise Him.” Psalm 42:5 Personalized
There are countless other promises that God has left for us in His word as we see them claimed and lived through in the characters etched there. From Adam to John the Revelator, hope is journaled, and promises are kept. Journaling has helped me to look back at situations I faced and to trace how God helped me through and answered my prayers even when the answer was no. I’m able to see God’s direction and redirection.
Leaning on Jesus and learning how to lean is one of my simple solutions. For I serve a God whose love will not let me go.
“God knows how to turn things around. He can turn your sorrow into joy — just let him in.”- Richard Daly
“Let your life reflect the faith you have in God. Fear nothing and pray about everything. Be strong, trust God’s word, and trust the process.”- Germany Kent
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You that Your simple solutions can take on the greatest of life’s problems and challenges. With You, nothing is impossible. You, we would have nothing. Thank You for being there for me always and in all ways. I can trade my worries for worship. In Jesus name, Amen.
‘Then he turned my sorrow into joy! He took away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy. so that I might sing glad praises to the Lord instead of lying in silence in the grave. O Lord my God, I will keep on thanking you forever!’ Psalms 30:11, 12 TLB
Say it with me - I wasn’t created to worry; I was created to give God praise!
Be blessed to be a blessing!
