“Lord, the victory is yours! You are so good to your people. Selah.” Psalm 3:8ERV

Have you ever struggled with not being good enough or feelings of inadequacy?

Some time ago I came across the term Imposter Syndrome.

People who struggle with imposter syndrome believe that they are undeserving of their achievements and the high esteem in which they are, in fact, generally held. They feel that they aren't as competent or intelligent as others might think—and that soon enough, people will discover the truth about them. (quote from Psychology today)

I remember the countless times God inspired me to do something and I would often feel as if I wasn’t equipped enough to do it. I would often compare myself to others with their qualifications and professional accomplishments and think – Lord, you sure you want me?

There’s a quote that I fell in love with which says ‘God has already prepared the way. He’s just preparing you.’ Oftentimes, we think that we are insignificant. We know that we can do a work for God but sometimes we fail to see exactly what that is.

The word Selah has been interpreted in many ways. It can mean to ‘lift up, exalt’ or to ‘pause, reflect’. A few years ago, I came across the word as meaning ‘God has spoken’.

The word of God carries power!

Before the world began, the Word was there. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was there with God in the beginning. Everything was made through him, and nothing was made without him. In him there was life, and that life was a light for the people of the world. The light[b] shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not defeated[c] it. (John 1:1-5 ERV)

I was led to this word – Selah and from this word I felt that God was calling me to remember who He is and the power of His word. When He speaks, He is not careless and when He speaks you know something is about to happen!!!! As I thought about it, I saw that Jesus doesn’t mind getting His hands ‘dirty’ but not in the way we consider dirty hands. He spoke this world into being, yet he touched the dirt to create man, He spoke healing and forgiveness of sins, yet to stop a woman from being stoned he wrote their sins in the sand.

He left the splendor of heaven to get nails pierced in His hands.  Jesus is a man of speech but also of action. He stands as Captain of the Invisible Hosts – the King of Glory! He speaks even if it is just to say peace, be still over your life. And His peace, passes all understanding – the world didn’t give it the world can’t take it away. The world didn’t give You His calling, naysayers cannot take it away. Resist the devil and He will flee from You. Surrender your all to Jesus who has the power and the desire to make you whole again. Creator, Redeemer, Conqueror and Friend. The One who will rejoice over us with singing. The One who is mighty to save.

From the recesses of my mind,

In this stillness of time

You speak to me – You quicken my Spirit – You open my eyes – I was so blind.

So blind not to see Your beauty, Your truth, Your light

You’ve shown light amid the darkness of my plight.

I see You – Your power, Your redemption, Your might

All intertwined in the cosmos of my DNA

Selah – God has spoken

Renewed, refreshed, reignited, reclaimed

A flame never to be quenched again

Receiving the former and now the latter rain

You breathe fire into my embers, You shake off my dross

You restore all that was lost

Your word, the living word that spoke life into being

Came to me all knowing, all seeing

Restored, redeemed, Reclaimed, Rewoven

Selah – God has spoken

Dear Heavenly Father,

We lift up and exalt your matchless and holy name. Great are you Lord and worthy to be praised! We pause and reflect on your goodness, your grace and mercy towards us. You have proven Your word time and time again not only in speech but in action. Help us not to doubt you or forsake your plans over our lives. Grant us Your abiding peace, In Jesus name we pray. Amen
