In difficult times He will shelter me. In challenging times, He will secure me. My enemies shall not prevail against me for He is hiding me where they can’t find me. He shall strengthen and establish me, and my enemies will watch in awe.
Psalms 27:5 (Personalized)
For a while, I’ve been pondering over the relationship between God and David. With legalistic eyes, one could conclude He made plenty of mistakes although He had the opportunity to walk the straight and narrow just as He did as a child. Through the eyes of God’s grace though, we see a man who did not want God to let Him go. When confronted, He humbled himself and asked for God’s mercy and forgiveness. He trusted in God and in who God is. He recognized that God is perfect; not Him.
I think to times where God has come through for me in a mighty way. I see the answered prayers reflected in my journals. He continues to reveal to me what I need to change to keep growing and moving and blooming; continually pruning away at what must be removed.
Sometimes, we can get so distracted on our journey, that we fail to see the growth we’ve made. Situations that would’ve easily defeated us, we overcome with a bit more ease.
‘If you fell down yesterday, stand up today’ - H.G. Wells;
Andy Rooney quoted “Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it.” Walking with God certainly has its ups and downs, but the person we become in the end is worth it.
We can still go to God who is the source of our strength. He won’t neglect us in our times of despair. Grace abounds! Run to Him not from Him. Jesus tells us to consider the lilies. The same way God takes such great care of His Creation, know He will of you too. 'God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.' - Psalm 46:1 KJ21
Dear Lord, how can I say thanks for all you have done and given to me. My words fail me, and my heart is overcome with gratefulness. Without You, I am nothing and in You I am complete. Help me to remember Your faithfulness in moments of despair. To know You are with me, always. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
‘When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up—the flames will not consume you.’ - Isaiah 43:2 TLB
No matter what you’re going through. He’s right there with you.
Be blessed to be a blessing!
