“God is waiting with eager expectation that He may intervene effectively. I am taking it on trust, for as long as I must, awaiting the influx of His mercy and the entry of His grace, because the Lord my God is faithful.” Isaiah 30:18 (Personalized)
According to Ai Overview, “to give pause to thought” means “to cause someone to stop and think carefully about something, often prompting reflection or doubt.”
Dictionary.com defines the word pause as a temporary stop in action or speech.
One of the beautiful things about my relationship with God is the constant paradigm shift I have as I learn more about Him. A paradigm shift is defined as “an important change that happens when the usual way of thinking about or doing something is replaced by a new and different way.” Merriam-Webster Dictionary.
In God’s waiting room, many changes occur.
P.A.U.S.E. Pause.
Can you? Pause and sit in stillness, drawing in the sights and sounds around? Can you pause even more to hear His still, small voice?
Jesus says in Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”
Since COVID, one of the activities I enjoy is to take time out to pause and reflect on God’s goodness and to reconnect with Him in nature.
Oftentimes, we get stuck on the hamster wheel of life thinking we must ignore all and keep going. This often leads to drain and burnout.
I’m grateful for the experiences of David, Jacob, Hannah, Moses, Abraham, Job and countless others who practiced the pause.
I am learning that waiting is a process, not the destination, and that God “makes everything
beautiful in his time.” (Ecclesiastes 3:11)
“Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart. Wait, I say, on the Lord!” Psalm 27:14, NKJV
“Live out of your imagination, not your history.” —Stephen Covey
“Be still in the presence of the Lord and wait patiently for Him to act.” Psalm 37:7, NLT
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for moments of stillness and reflection where I can pause and reconnect to You. Thank You for the reminder that I can come to You when I am feeling burdened and overwhelmed in exchange for Your rest. Help me to P.A.U.S.E. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
“God is intentional. He is deliberate, precise and knows what He is doing. Your job is to keep the faith, wait on Him and know that He is God.”- Germany Kent
“When in doubt, pause. When angry, pause. When tired, pause. When stressed, pause. And when you pause, pray.” - Unknown
“Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in Him.” Psalm 62:5, NLT
Be blessed to be a blessing.
