Maxed Out

Where You Are - Illustration

I am giving God all the praise for giving me what I desire; for fulfilling all my dreams; for providing me with much more than I have the capacity to ask, think or imagine. Ephesians 3:20 (Personalized)

My phone is currently having storage wars which has caused me to look at what’s taking up space. The struggle is real!!!

Those who know me know I take and keep a plethora of pictures and videos. It’s a cherished tradition passed down from my father. Capturing moments is my forte – no pun intended. Having to decide what to delete and what to keep can be time consuming.

It would get to the point where I would ignore and take pictures as normal but then the message would show – Out of Storage. As I reflected on this, I thought about my capacity as a human being. How sometimes I may have memories and habits that need deleting. I realised storing situations and repressed feelings in my heart could totally fill the capacity I have, to the point where I was unable to hold the good and would essentially be maxed out.

Fear, anxiety and depression can overload our mental and emotional capacity. It can rob us of good memories and experiences because we are maxed out – out of storage – out to all! I am reminded that God has not given us the spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1:7). God is willing to walk with us through anything and everything we face (Psalm 23:4; Isaiah 43:2)

We can decide what we fill our space with. What we will delete and what we will keep.  When we become inundated, we can miss out on what God has in store for us. Would we even recognize when our purpose is calling? It’s time to take stock and clear out our storage of what no longer serves us. God promised to give us an overflow of good things. David spoke about his cup running over as God prepared a feast for him in the presence of his enemies (Psalm 23:5). God asks us to test Him when we return our tithe faithfully that He would open the windows of heaven (Malachi 3:10,11). Jesus offers us abundant life (John 10:10). I would rather be maxed out on peace than on my worries; maxed out on praise than on my circumstance; maxed out on joy than on the darkness that plagues this world.

  • The most authentic thing about us is our capacity to create, to overcome, to endure, to transform, to love and to be greater than our suffering. – Ben Okri

  • “Life is short and the older you get, the more you feel it. Indeed, the shorter it is. People lose their capacity to walk, runtravel, think, and experience life. I realise how important it is to use the time I have.” - Viggo Mortensen

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for a love, peace and joy that is full and overflowing. May I empty myself of all negative things and be maxed out on your grace and blessings for my life. As I keep my mind clear and focused on you, help me to know when your purpose for me is calling.

In Jesus Name, Amen.

Let my lips overflow with praise because you’ve taught me your statutes. Psalm 119:171 CEB

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 NIV

Be blessed to be a blessing.
