Love Is In The Air

Where You Are - Illustration

“I am certain. Nothing will stop God from loving me. Not death or cosmic supernatural powers. Not now or tomorrow or a thousand years from now. Neither the wicked schemes of Satan; nor mean manipulations of man can stop Him from loving me. Nothing can! Romans 8:38-39 (Personalized)

Chocolates. Roses. Teddy bears. Gifts large and small occupying shelves, desks, hands and hearts. We celebrate the love of lovers and of friends. Love is in the air. For God, everyday is love and a chance to love us because He is love.

There are five (5) love languages or expressions of love – a concept developed by Dr. Gary Chapman.  Words of Affirmation, acts of service, receiving gifts, quality time, and physical touch. These “languages” refer to how people express and feel love.

How has God expressed His love for us through love languages? I’ll explore this week. For today, let’s start with one of my own love languages - Words of Affirmation.

An affirmation can be defined as ‘the assertion that something exists or is true; a declaration; a statement or proposition that is declared to be true.’ – Dictionary.com. In God’s word, we find many declarations about His love for mankind.

“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” Jeremiah 31:3, NIV

“The Lord Your God is in your midst, a mighty One who will save; He will rejoice over You with gladness; He will quiet You by His love, He will exult over you with loud singing.” Zephaniah 3:17, ESV

“Know therefore that the Lord Your God is God; He is the faithful God, keeping His covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love Him and keep His commandments.” Deuteronomy 7:9, NIV

“And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.” Matthew 10:30,31, NLT

The most beautiful of affirmations is Paul’s declaration about God’s love for us. He was not only convicted, but convinced that nothing could ever separate us from God’s love. May we not only look at earthly and temporal gifts, but truly treasure the greatest love of all that we have in Christ Jesus. Say it with me - I am loved. I am chosen by God. I am His treasure.

“The shape of true love isn’t a diamond. It’s a cross.” – Alicia Bruxvoort

“Though our feelings come and go, God’s love for us does not.” – CS Lewis

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your beautiful declarations of love towards us. You affirm us with Your life-giving word urging us to choose You. We love because You first loved us. Help us to share Your beautiful and wonderful words with others so they too can be blessed. In Jesus name, Amen.

“God’s love is like an ocean. You can see its beginning, but not its end.” – Rick Warren

“And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high and how deep His love is.” Ephesians 3:18, NLT

Be blessed to be a blessing.
