Let Go

Let Go - Illustration

I am peaceful knowing that You are in control. I am in awe of Your great power. I am thrilled knowing that there is nothing too hard for You. Jeremiah 32:17 (Personalized).

Over the past few years, God has been revealing to me the power that resides in letting go. Too often, we become frustrated because we want to control outcomes.

This can be portrayed in how we want people to view us or the narratives we believe they have about us. It becomes burdensome, and it shows in the choices we make; the challenges we face or the lessons we need to learn so we can overcome.

I reflect on the story of Joseph, who, sold into slavery by his brothers, had to learn to let go. His ability to do so helped him to save not only His family but His people as a nation. Letting go sometimes is required because God is placing us in spaces for a particular time and purpose (see Psalms 105: 15-19) It’s only in hindsight, we see how God can turn situations around for us. Whilst we may never have to endure such betrayal, we can trust that God can work all things out for our good. Proverbs 3:5 EASY says Trust in the Lord completely.

Do not think that you understand things well enough for yourself or as C.S. Lewis puts it - The more we let God take us over, the more truly ourselves we become – because He made us.  – C. S. Lewis.

When the Holy Spirit spoke to me about letting go; He showed me it is about being intentional. Now, when I become aware that I am not releasing something, I give pause, breathe in and out deeply and focus with intent saying, “Lord, I am letting this go, help me to release it. You are in control. Help me to be guided by You as You already know the outcome” And I claim His peace in it all.

Let go of what you think you know. Something amazing happens when you let God and trust. -Tammy L. Kubasko “It is true that you planned to do something bad to me. But really, God was planning good things. God’s plan was to use me to save the lives of many people. And that is what happened.” Genesis 50:20 (ERV)
