Keep Your Eyes on the Road

Where You Are - Illustration

The plans I make may be deficient and nearsighted, but God’s grace will bring me to His desired destination. Proverbs 16:9 (Personalized).

Have you ever driven with someone who did everything else but focus on driving? I would imagine it would be quite nerve racking even with great skill from the driver. There is a sensibility that can be derived when we learn to focus on one task at a time.

I am working on becoming indistractable i.e ‘being able to control distractions and focusing on what I want to do’.

I am the kind of person who would sit to do one thing and end up doing everything else. Where are my people?!?

I’m grateful that God though multifaceted, can also be singularly focused. He made a plan and stuck to it. Isaiah 9:6 NIV tells us “ for unto us a child is born, to us a Son is given, and the government will be upon His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

John 3:16 TLB reminds us “ for God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son that anyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. Yes, God was focused on the mission at hand. He had a plan.

We also make plans. As another year looms on the horizon, many make resolutions to do better; to be better. Let’s keep our eyes on the road!

The parable of the lost sheep resonates with me so much because of the love of the Shepherd to seek out the one He didn’t have. Singular focus.

The parable of the Prodigal Son, the love of the Father as He kept His eyes on the road to see his son returning to him. Again, singular focus.

Many of us are pained and overwhelmed seeking after the things of this world. Like the rich young ruler, we count the cost and the road we take though familiar can become unsatisfying. But God! God has promised to seek after us and to never let us go. He has a singular focus.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for providential care. I don’t always take the road I’m supposed to and sometimes I get easily distracted. Help me to keep my eyes on the road . Jesus says He is the Way. Help me Lord by your Holy Spirit to follow him. In His name I pray with thanksgiving. Amen.

“ I have wandered away like a lost sheep; come and find me, for I have not turned away from your commandments”.Psalms 119:179 TLB

Be blessed to be a blessing.
