Joy, Joy, Joy

Where You Are - Illustration

God is making the right way known to me so I can not only be safe and secure, but I can experience the pleasure of fellowship with Him. He is providing every good thing, so I am experiencing the fullness of joy. Psalm 16:11 (Personalized)

Joy – ‘a feeling of great pleasure and happiness.’ Dictionary.com

Joy is often mistaken for happiness which usually occurs due to external and temporary feelings. Joy looks beyond our circumstance and helps us to focus on what truly matters. To me, joy is like an abiding peace overflowing from a heart filled with gratitude. I may not even have a smile on my face but in my heart, I am grateful and at peace.

In Galatians 5:22, 23 we find the fruit of the Spirit – love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. All attributes of the Father. God is love – it is His nature, His being, His very essence. God’s love for us is eternal, so is His joy. Zephaniah 3:17 says,  ‘He is mighty to save, and He will joy over us with singing”.  His joy transcends anxiety, depression, the trials, our shortcomings and misgivings, the known and unknown variables we face in this life. With God, there is joy, joy, joy! David understood this when he asked God to restore to him the joy of salvation. (Psalm 51:12)

I experience joy, when I remember whose I am. When I look at nature and creation and see the love and masterful detail that went into each plant and flower and sunset and rainbow. You know I love to see rainbows! I experience joy in genuine laughter of children as they learn to navigate this world, experiencing things that we may have grown complacent of. I experience joy even when I grieve lost ones to know that some day we will be reunited. I experience joy to know when God works things out for my good; in those moments when I can say I know that You God!

“He is my strength, my shield from every danger. I trusted in Him and He helped me. Joy rises in my heart until I burst out in songs of praise to Him” Psalm 28:7 TLB

“When anxiety was great within me, Your consolation brought me joy.” Psalm 94:19 NIV

“Joy comes to us in moments-ordinary moments. We risk missing out on joy when we get too busy chasing down the extraordinary.” Brené Brown

“Deep joy is both the ground of love and the surest source of strength to persevere in the

course of compassion – even when trials abound, as they often will.” – Robert Ellwood

“There is not one little blade of grass, there is no colour in this world that is not intended to make men rejoice.” - John Calvin.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for your gift of joy. In this dark, dreary and uncertain world, it is most needed to cheer us on our way. With a heart full of gratitude, help us to always remember the sacrifices You’ve made for us. There’s nothing You wouldn’t do for us. Thank You. We praise Your matchless name. In Jesus name, Amen.

“God has given us His great and precious promises to give us hope, joy, peace, wisdom and strength for whatever we are facing in our day.” - Chasing Vibrance

“Joy is the simplest form of gratitude.” - Karl Barth

“Joy is not necessarily the absence of suffering; it is the presence of God.” - Sam Storms

Be blessed to be a blessing.
