Hope and a Future - Illustration

“My soul shall make her boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear thereof and be glad.” Psalm 34:2 KJ21

If I could sit with myself back in 2025, nothing would prepare me for the year I’ve had. Each time I sought after eremition, God saw it fit to place me in new positions and increase my opportunities.

I’ve also lost some friends and acquaintances to death’s slumber. I, myself, escaped a close call that one could only see as a miracle. Yes, 2025 Kim would’ve marvelled at this year. Counting the cost and marking the days. Amazed at how the Lord has done it once again!

To my future self, I pray that you exhibit even more resilience and fortitude. To meet life’s challenges head on whilst taking the time to enjoy the still moments and seasons. To always keep before you, the quote which led to our word for the year - Create. To continue to create rather than construct so that the thing is loved before it exists. To chart new courses and to always pursue a life of freedom and peace.

The days are few, but the Lord’s blessings are many - too many to count. Continue to have a heart filled with praise and gratitude. Grow in experiential faith. Fall down and rise again. Learn. Thrive. Survive. Bloom. This new year will have many uncharted seas, trust the Captain to see you through.

You’ll face new giants, but You are more than a conqueror. Never give up on your writings and drawings, they inspire so many to face their fears, accept God’s grace, claim His promises and to be spirit-led.

I thank You Lord. Bless You with all that is within me. I have tasted Your goodness and Your mercy. I have seen for myself that You are good and greatly to be praised.  In every season, for every mountain, you’ve been there going before me and with me. Thank You that I have hope and a future.

“I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together. I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard Him and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them. Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” Psalm 34:1-8 NKJV

I thank God that with Him, I have a hope and a future. It is my prayer that You too can claim His promises over your life and move from watching Him work in the lives of others to walking the path He has created just for you.

“Teach us to number our days and recognize how few they are; help us to spend them as we should.” Psalm 90:12 TLB

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for a new day, a new year, new beginnings and endings. I am humbled and grateful at the way You have come through for me in my year. I thank You and I praise Your Name. I am undeserving but You are gracious. Help me to look forward to the future as I have in the past, claiming and laying hold of Your promises.  In Jesus Name, Amen.

‘But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.’ 2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

Be blessed to be a blessing.
