“Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation and uphold me with Thy free Spirit.” Psalm 51:12
According to Dictionary.com, free can be described as “not under the control or in the power of another” or “no longer confined or imprisoned.” Freed, the past tense of free, is defined as “release from captivity, confinement, or slavery.”
A quote by Harun Yahya stays with me constantly. “I always wonder why birds stay in the same place when they can fly anywhere on the earth. Then I ask myself the same question.”
When we do a deep dive into why we are who we are, and why we do what we do, we notice where we are choosing what we are not changing. Paul reminds us in Romans 12:2 (ERV),
“Don’t change yourselves to be like the people of this world but let God change you inside with a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to understand and accept what God wants for you. You will be able to know what is good and pleasing to Him and what is perfect.”
I love that we have an Abba, Father who desires for us to be free, free and freed! Free from slavery and sin; free from emotional turmoil; free from death and the grave; free from all the hurts and bad things this earth carries. He tells us to claim this freedom which can be found in Him now and live in peace and His blessings which overflow.
As we celebrate another year of Independence here in Barbados, it is my prayer that we truly grasp what it means to be free. To be grateful that we have freedom in Jesus and victory to overcome.
"There's a kind of freedom the world can't give you. Real freedom is found in Jesus. When He sets you free, free from shame, guilt, fear, and striving, you don't have to live chained to your past anymore." - Unknown
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You Lord for freedom and for setting me free. Help me not to return to any yokes of bondage. Help me to trust in Your will. I am free and freed with You. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
“So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.” - John 8:36 (NLT)
"To serve God, to love God, to enjoy God, is the sweetest freedom in the world." - Thomas Watson
"Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom." - 2 Corinthians 3:17 (NIV)
We have freedom now, because Christ made us free. So stand strong in that freedom. Don’t go back into slavery again. - Galatians 5:1 (ERV)
Be blessed to be a blessing.
