Show me Your mercy and favour today and every day because I am relying on You. Tell me Your will and teach me how to do it. Show me Your way, the way of duty and safety for I have confidence in You. Psalm 143:8 (Personalized)
Can you recall instances where you released a situation to God then took it right back up to fight or act in your own strength? Well, I have. As human beings, even with discernment, we don’t know exactly what the future holds or what catalysts are set in motion by our action or inaction. But God does! He who moves in time and beyond time can see the end from the beginning. He can open and close doors. He can work out what’s meant for evil for good. He can let everything work for our good. Do we really rely on God or does our reliance only go as far as we can see or feel comfortable leaning?
When we rely on God and ask Him to work things out in our favour and according to His mercy, we must trust that He will. The text says, 'Teach me Your will and teach me how to do it.' God is our greatest teacher; He knows the way and He makes the way. He IS the way! The way of duty and of safety lies with God.
I think about David and Saul- especially the moment when Saul was in the cave and David had opportunity to kill him. Instead, he cut a piece of his robe. Even that decision haunted David because he knew he gave Saul over to God which is why he said he should not touch the Lord's 'Anointed'. He took the matter into His own hands and then regretted it.
Let us have confidence in God that He will work things out for our good. Confidence to leave everything that means us harm at His feet and actively wait on Him for deliverance.
“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” Psalm 27:5 ESV
Dear Lord, please forgive me for stepping ahead of you in situations. The battle is not mine, it's Yours! Help me to rely on and to put my confidence in you. Show me the way and help me to follow it. In Jesus name, Amen.
