Broken Pieces

Where You Are - Illustration

The Lord is ready to hear and to hold those who are burdened with a broken heart. The Lord is ready to help and to heal those who are crushed by sorrow and suffering. Psalm 34:18 (Personalized)

"God can turn broken pieces into MASTERPIECES."

I am always amazed at the creativity of persons to turn almost anything into amazing works of art. I recently saw a video where the artist constructed birds out of children’s dolls. If human beings are capable of this, then imagine how much more God is!

Hebrews 11 is Heaven’s Hall of Faith. The Bible reveals to us the lives of those who lived for our benefit. We see their strengths and their weaknesses, successes and defeats, joys and heartaches.

The Bible is filled with examples of those who were broken and crushed in spirit. We see where they were at their wits end (Elijah). Peter was broken in spirit after denying Jesus, and even Jesus Himself, just before His crucifixion, was in anguish of spirit.

While we may have toxic positivity to deal with at times, God shows that He is concerned about what concerns us and crushes our spirit. In the story of the feeding of the multitude, Jesus was concerned that the people would be hungry. He asked His disciples to find food. They found a boy with five loaves of bread and two fish. “Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, Jesus gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then He gave them to His disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.”  See Matthew 13:13-21. Our Jehovah Jireh is as able to provide for us now as He did when He was here on earth.

God can take whatever we have and make it into something beautiful. He can even create something totally new! He can provide for our every need.

I remember when I felt broken and crushed in spirit. All I could do was cry out to God from my heart. Like the men who lowered their friend to Jesus because He could not do it for himself, it took the prayers of a few faithful women standing over me and interceding on my behalf to lift the weight that was crushing me in spirit. That’s why it’s important for us to be there for one another, and to have compassion and empathy.

“We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.” 2 Corinthians 4:7, NLT

Matthew 21:44, NLT says, “anyone who stumbles over that Stone will be broken to pieces, and it will crush anyone it falls on.” I’ve learnt that it is better to be broken upon Jesus than crushed by Him. He wants us to come to Him with our pieces and He will make us whole again.

“God can turn a life that is broken into a thing of beauty.” – Mandy Fender

“God uses broken things: broken soil to produce a crop, broken clouds to give rain, broken grain to give bread, broken bread to give strength and broken people to do great things.”

 - Vance Havner

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being close to the broken hearted. Take all my broken pieces and make a masterpiece for Your glory. Bind up my brokenness. Thank You for being a friend I can turn to and the Waymaker. In Jesus name, Amen.

“Even though you can’t quite see the whole design yet, know that God has taken each and every broken part of your story, your priceless vase, and is creating something even more valuable because it has been restored by His hands.” – Peace with the Psalms

“God uses all our broken pieces to make something beautiful. God is making something beautiful out of you.” - Unknown

“God pick up the pieces. Put me back together again.” – Jeremiah 17:14

It’s time to come home.

Be blessed to be a blessing.
