Where You Are - Illustration

“He started a good work in me, His good work. He will keep improving it until Jesus comes. I am sure of this. Philippians 1:6 (Personalized)"

I remember being fascinated with the debate of nature versus nurture in secondary school. Quoting from AI Overview, it refers to “whether human traits and behaviours are primarily influenced by genetics (nature) or environmental factors (nurture) during development.” I’m no psychologist or biologist, but I believe that both nature and nurture influence who we become.

We were created for a purpose and with purpose! When God created this world, everything man would need for sustenance and growth was made first. Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT), one of my favourite, favourite bible verses reminds us, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

I like to think of my life as a blank canvas, with God the Creator laying out His plan for a beautiful masterpiece. Oh, but the tears I’ve cried, even after knowing that the number of hairs on my head are as important to Him as the details in the rainbow, the sunset, and the clouds.

One of my constant prayers was that God would reveal my purpose to me. I discovered part of my purpose during COVID and I chuckled that it was right under my nose all along. I recognised that God makes every provision for us and our calling is often wound up where we feel most hesitant and vulnerable. It seems we must “walk past fear to our calling.” As Rachel Adams tells us, “God’s promises and purposes are waiting for you on the other side of fear.” By finding my purpose, His grace, love, and compassion fill my life, spilling forth in vivid and vibrant colour.

Proverbs 16:4 tells us that, “The Lord God has made everything for its purpose.” And I trust that you will allow God to reveal His purpose for you. Ask and be open to receiving His guidance and instruction. For those who walk in their purpose, I pray that God will continue to empower You to grow from strength to strength and not to become weary in well-doing.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your creative and redemptive power. Thank You for the work you have begun and will finish in me. From the day I was born, You were drawing me to You; and from the day I was reborn You have been drawing me to You. Thank You for painting on my blank canvas. You are making me into one of your beautiful masterpieces and a testament of Your great love for us through Your Son, Jesus Christ. In His name we pray with thanksgiving, Amen.

Be blessed to be a blessing.
