Be Big on Purpose

Where You Are - Illustration

“In eternity past He saved me not with promptings or persuasion but in pursuance of His own purpose. Not for my works which then did not exist, it is all by grace and only by this.” 2 Timothy 1:9 (Personalized)

Purpose – “the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.” Dictionary.com.

This week I came across a video from Natarsha Garcia, coaching a student to “Be big on purpose.”

She encourages her students and by extension clients to pursue their dreams with boldness and determination. It’s about rising with intention.

Often, I ask myself, what would you do if you weren’t afraid? I’m learning that you can be fearful and still do what God has purposed in your heart faithfully.

Maybe you’re plagued with imposter syndrome, or the risks seem too great. What I do know is that God has created each of us with a unique purpose and if we would let our light shine and encourage others to do the same, we would make a huge impact for God’s kingdom. “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 3:20, NIV

Over the years, I constantly asked God to reveal my purpose to me. It felt like everyone had their life mapped out. It was only a few years ago that I realised that He was moving me in my purpose all along.

Be Big on Purpose!

In Matthew 5:13-16, NIV, Jesus reminds us, “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

And of course, how can I talk about purpose and not mention one of my favorite quotes from Marianne Williamson? “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

“Without God, life has no purpose, and without purpose, life has no meaning. Without meaning, life has no significance or hope.” - Rick Warren

“God has a plan for your life. He wants you to get your hopes up and to dream big, but I would not be wrong to tell you that there are going to be situations that come about which are intended by the enemy to hurt you, bother you, hinder you, and keep you back from your destiny...but the journey is worth it.” - Drenda Keesee

“God has a purpose for your life that’s far greater than your pain. Don’t let the struggle you’re currently going through keep you from the blessings that God has for you.” -Trent Shelton

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for creating me with purpose and for a purpose. Help me to let my light shine, so that others would be empowered to do the same, and to share Your love and compassion that is so needed in the world today. Thank You for the plan, the promise and the purpose we have in Christ Jesus. In His name I pray and with thanksgiving. Amen.

“God’s grace is the empowering force that enables us to overcome our limitations and live a life of purpose and fulfilment.” - Bill Asamoah.

“The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me; Your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of Your hands.” Psalm 138:8, ESV

Be blessed to be a blessing.
