FEAR

The Apostle Paul reminded Timothy that 'God has not given us a spirit of timidity and fear, but a spirit of boldness, love and self-discipline.' (2 Timothy 1:7) Fear, realised or unrealised, can rob us of many experiences.

I have an irrational fear of spiders and I’ve recited this bible text many times over. I’ve also repeated it to encourage myself to step out in faith in certain situations. 'God has not given us a spirit of fear...'

One of many quotes I love from the late Nelson Mandela is "I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.". There is an unexplainable beauty in overcoming what we fear.

No fear. When we think of the judgment, it could cause us to shudder for we are filthy and unworthy to stand before God. Our own inadequacies and shortfalls cast a dark shadow. How then is the judgement good news for us?

We are admonished to come boldly before the throne of God, boldly without being timid. To be confident in the blood of Jesus which has the power to cleanse ALL sin and to cover us to the utmost. No fear of the judgment once we make Jesus our trust and our hope. Hebrews 9:14 tells us "How much more cleansing power does the blood of Christ have! In the power of the Spirit He offered Himself to God as the perfect sacrifice which cleanses us from all sin, freeing us from the works that end in death to rightly serve the living God!"

Seeing then we have nothing to fear 'Let us say with David, "The Lord is my helper. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me that will hurt my soul?" Heb 13:6/ Ps 118:6.

Beautiful how 2 Timothy 1:7 is opened in a new light to show us we have nothing to fear.

Dear Lord, thank You for Your Spirit. Help me to conquer as You have conquered. To overcome as You overcame. To remember it is not by might, not by power, but by Your Spirit

– I can do all things. I have nothing to fear. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Forget Every worry And Rest in Jesus. We can walk fearful, or we can walk faithful.
